Do I need an account to play?
You can try your first game without signing up. Just click "Start Game" and play! If you enjoy it, creating a free account unlocks more games, plus you'll be able to track your game history and appear on the highscores.
How many games can I play?
Without an account: 1 free game to try it out.
With a free account: 2 games.
Want to play more? We're still figuring out the best way to make that possible while covering the AI costs. For now, send us an email and we'll see what we can do!
Gameplay
How is the winner decided?
Each round, an AI "Judge" analyzes both the human's word and the AI's word. The Judge determines which word seems more "human-like" in the context of the game. It's not just about vocabulary. It's about creativity, context, and intuition.
Can I use any word?
You must use valid English words. This keeps the game fair and challenges you to be creative within the bounds of the language.
Note: Offensive words are prohibited. This includes racial slurs, sexual content, and other harmful language. If that's what humans need to win against machines, we've already lost.
What happens if there's a tie?
You and the AI can potentially choose the same word! In that case, it's a tie and no points are awarded to either side. A new round is then added to the game to determine a winner.
What does the AI see?
The AI opponent knows the rules of the game, sees all of your prior word choices from the current game, and knows the Judge's decisions from previous rounds. It uses this context to try to outsmart you, just like you're trying to outsmart it!
Wouldn't it be better to have human judges?
That would be fun! But also hard to implement. For now, we rely on AI judges to keep the game fast and available 24/7. Maybe one day we'll add a multiplayer mode with human judges. Stay tuned!
Technical & Privacy
Which AI models do you use?
We use a variety of models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Mistral. Each game randomly selects an opponent and a judge from our available models. Check out the AI Models page to see who you might face!
Is my data private?
Yes. We do not sell your personal data. We use privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics. Game inputs are sent to AI providers solely for the purpose of gameplay. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
Why are games limited?
We wish it could be! But every game requires real-time calls to Large Language Models. The AI opponent thinks, the AI judge deliberates, and we pay for every token. We're trying to find the right balance between accessibility and sustainability.
